T he meeting of the Council of the American Clan Gregor Society was held at<br />

the Sheraton Park Hotel in Wa shington , D. C, on October 16, <strong>1954</strong>. Members<br />

of the Council present were : Dougla s Neil Magruder, Marshall Magruder, Regina<br />

Magruder Hill, Colma L. Allgeyer, Mrs. Mabel T . Rhoades, Thomas Garland<br />

Magruder, j r., Herbert T. Magru der, Miss Anna Louise Reynold s, C Virginia<br />

Diede!.<br />

Th e meeting was called to order by the Chiefta in, Brig. Gen. Marshall<br />

Magruder, U.S.A., Retired, at 11:00 o'clock A.M. Miss Regina M. Hill, in the<br />

absence of the Chaplain , opened the meeting with pra yer. The reading of the<br />

minut es of the previous meeting was omitted, as the "highlights" were published<br />

in the last Year Book.<br />

T he Chieftain discussed the result s of his newly instituted plan of contact<br />

ing by letter the State Deputy Chieftai ns and asking each for a report of<br />

his activities in regard to the Clan. Also, each one was requested to give certain<br />

data ; such as the number of those persons of Magruder Blood in his vicinity, names<br />

of old Magruder Home Sites, etc. H e reported a very successful, well attended<br />

luncheon given at his home in Atlanta on September 25th to which "Georgia<br />

Magruders" were invited. He concluded by saying, "T he future membership of<br />

thi s Society depends on the State Deputy Chieftains."<br />

Th e next subject discussed was the year-old Endow ment Committee . The<br />

Chieftain appointed two new members, Mr s. Rex Hays Rhoades and Mr. Clarence<br />

Will iam McCormick, newly elected tr easurer. The following is the membership of<br />

the Endowment Committee: T he Rev. Daniel Randall Magruder, Chairman; Miss<br />

C Virginia Diedel ( Mrs. Jacob Milwit ) , Mr . H enry Magru der Taylor, Mrs. Rex<br />

Ha ys Rhoades, and Mr . Clarence William McCormick.<br />

Af ter full discussion, the following motions were recommended to be pr esented<br />

to the Business Session in the afternoon:<br />

1. The following resolution was moved by Douglas Neil Magrud er and<br />

seconded by Mrs. Rex Ha ys Rh oades : "Be it resolved that the dues of all Junior<br />

Members who are children or gra ndchildren, of members of this Society, be waived<br />

as of October 16, <strong>1954</strong> ; the beginning of the present fiscal year." T his was voted<br />

on and approved.<br />

2. Moved by Miss Regina M. Hill and seconded by Mr . Herbert T. Mag ruder :<br />

"He it resolved that the Life Membership F und be combined with the Endowment<br />

Fund, as of October 16, <strong>1954</strong> ; and the name be known as the E ndowment Fu nd<br />

on the Treasurer's books." Th is was voted on and approved.<br />

3. Moved by Douglas Neil Magruder and seconded by Miss Hill and Mrs.<br />

Rh oades : "Be it resolved that all funds, other than the Endowment and Lif e
