Campbell of Strachur. Gregor -Mor d. 1514. H e and Flora had<br />

issue :<br />

1. Duncan MacGregor , his heir called Ladosach . Lived about<br />

100 year s, but was beheaded 1552. ( Of the MacGr egor chiefs<br />

line.)<br />

2. Gregor was a Captain of g reat reput ation. Perf or med against<br />

the English Bord ers in conjunction with his cousins-the<br />

Griersons of Lag. See Malcolm XI, his 2nd son's line. Ref.<br />

#9.<br />

3. Malcolm MacGregor, of great prudence and valor. Grea tly<br />

esteemed by Alexander Ea rl of Mar. Acquired the lands of<br />

Inverey with others in Brea-Ma r. H e m. a dau. of Donagal<br />

Lamont of Stitlaig, and had issue. Th e eldest son, Alexander,<br />

acquired lands in Cherry, Killach, Dalchery, Balachy, etc.<br />

4. John MacGregor, who afterward s got the lands of Brackly<br />

from his eldest brother. Descendant s of his lived th ere for<br />

many generations and were often mistaken for those of Dun ­<br />

can Ladosach.<br />

Dun can MacGregor ( Ladosach), or the "Co mplete H ero" s. his<br />

fath er. A man of reso lution, much celebrated by the bards, lived<br />

for a time with his uncle Strachur, in the Island of Orann in Glen<br />

Falloch. H e acquired other lands and several in Breada lbane,<br />

besides his form er possessions, upon which he gave those of Brackly<br />

to his youngest brother , John. H e took to wife Mary, dau. to Lai rd<br />

of A rdkinlos (ancestor of James Campbell of Ardkinlos) and had :<br />

1. Gregor MacGregor , eldest son and heir, beheaded with his<br />

fath er. Grego r's descendants, eventually Glencarn och XXI,<br />

and through him to the present Chief, Sir Malcolm XXVI ,<br />

carry down the representat ion fr om early Chiefs by right<br />

of blood, as the oldest line, says Miss MacGregor, ref. # 10.<br />

2. Malcolm Roy MacGregor, murd ered with his father and<br />

brother Jun e 16, 1552.<br />

3. Duncan , Oig Laddosun, MacGregor , murdered with the others<br />

June 16, 1552.<br />

4. Patrick Dow MacGr egor, Vic Dun can Lad dosach, slain at<br />

Balquhidder Oct. 4, 1574.<br />

Gregor, son of Dun can MacGregor ( Ladosach), eldest son did<br />

not s. because of being murdered with his father. H e had m.<br />

Isabel, dau. of Camer on Stronhead, and had issue thru whom his<br />

blood descended. They were :<br />

1. Duncan (Abrach) MacGregor , eldest, s. and fr om him descends<br />

the MacGregor Chiefs lines.<br />

2. Patrick (Aulach or Adholach) MacGr egor, exec uted at<br />

Edinburgh with Glenstrae, February 1604. There were 3<br />

others executed that same day, and a total of 25 executed<br />

durin g the month s of Januar y, February and March of tha t
