MIS S Lucy ALLEN M CCORMI CK<br />
1869-<strong>1954</strong><br />
Miss Lucy AlIen McCormick, who passed away on December 19, <strong>1954</strong>, was<br />
the daughter of Alexander McCormick and his wife, Eli zabeth Truman Beall<br />
Young. She was the sister of our beloved deceased members, Mrs. Philip Hi1I<br />
Sheriff and Mr s. Mary Sophr onia McCormick Brooks. Until shortly before her<br />
death she and anoth er sister, Miss Ida McCorm ick, continued to live in their<br />
Colorado Avenue home.<br />
An accident some years ago left her a cripple but she was determin ed she<br />
would walk aga in. She bore this affliction with patience and fortitude and was<br />
always ready and willing to do what she could to help in the home. Miss Lucy<br />
will be missed by her family and many fri ends.<br />
Miss Lucy was the aunt of our Clan members, Mr. Clarence Wi1Iiam Me<br />
Cormick, present Treasurer; Mr. William McCormick Brooks, Mrs. Charlotte<br />
McCormick Pitts, and great-aunt of Mrs. Esther Pitts Prevish ; and also aunt of<br />
Mr s. Mary Young Brooks Duval, Mr s. Mar y Br ight well Stack, and Miss Emma<br />
Berry H oyle.<br />
Fun eral services were held at the Church of the Transfigur ation with interment<br />
in Rock Creek Cemetery.<br />
MRS. AMELIA A DA11S RHODES<br />
1879-1955<br />
Mrs. Amelia Adam s Rhodes of Baltim ore, Md., died on Jan. 19, 1955, at her<br />
home. The daughter of the lat e Mr. and Mr s. J ohn S. Adams , of Charlotte Hall,<br />
Mr s. Rhodes was born and grew up in St. Mar y's County, Maryland, leaving when<br />
she was married.<br />
She is survived by two brothers and thr ee sisters: Mr. J. Franklin Adam s,<br />
of Mechanicsvi1le; H. R. Adam s, of Baltimore, Mrs. N. P. Barber, of Charlotte<br />
Hall ; Mrs. J . S. Magill and Mr s. Janie Leverty, of Baltim ore.<br />
Mrs. Rhodes was very much interested in the Clan and all that it stands for,<br />
and she came to the Gatherings year after year, with her sisters and nieces from<br />
Baltim ore.<br />
Requiem Mass was celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Church in<br />
Mechanicsville, Md., with interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery.<br />
