E dith J ohnson of Philadelphia, who survives him. He also leaves two daughters.<br />
Mrs. Hen rietta Kingsley Cummings Black died at her home in New Orleans,<br />
La., Dec. 3, <strong>1954</strong>. She was the daughter of Albert Newhall Cummings and Lau ra<br />
T urpin Hutton. She was an early member of the Clan. A Memorial will appear<br />
in the 1956 Yea r Book.<br />

1863-<strong>1954</strong><br />
Mrs. Henrietta Maria Clari ssa Ma ynard died at her home in Gambrill , Md.,<br />
on Dec. 17, <strong>1954</strong>. She also was one of the ear ly members of the Clan. A Memorial<br />
will appear in the 1956 Yea r Book.<br />

William E rnest Offutt, Sr., 67, one of Arlington's leading builders and member<br />
of the Council of American Clan Gregor Society, died March 10, 1955, at Doctors<br />
Ho spita l, Wash., D. C. after a short illness. H e lived at 3454 North Ed ison Street,<br />
Ar lingto n, V irginia.<br />
Mr. Offutt was a descendant of James Offutt, Sr. (1725-1802) and Rebecca<br />
Magruder (1725-1810) who was the daught er of Ninian Magruder I and Elizabeth<br />
Brewer. Ninian Magruder I was the grandson of Alexander Magruder, Immigrant.<br />
Born in Barnesville, in Upper Montgomery County, Md., Mr. Offutt later<br />
lived in Charles County, Md. He moved to Virginia in 1947 and built homes in<br />
Arli ngton and Fa lls Church.<br />
Mr. Offutt was a graduate of the Washington and Lee University School of<br />
Engineering. H e was a member of the Alph a Chi Rho Fraternity at W &L. He<br />
was surveyor for Charl es Count y and also acted as county aid superv isor. H e was<br />
a member of the W ashingt on Golf and Country Club.<br />
In addition to his widow, Mary Brady Offutt, he is survived by four daughters,<br />
Mrs. Frank P . Hamilton, Mrs. William T. McCorm ick, Mrs. Paul H. Drury,<br />
Mrs . James G. Conroy ; two sons, T homa s J . and Wi lliam E. Offutt, J r., and 15<br />
gra ndchildren. He is also survived by four sisters and three brothers.<br />
A requiem mass was offered at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 2000 block of<br />
North Rando lph Street, Arlington. Burial was in the Monocacy Cemetery at<br />
Beallsville, Md.
