4. Presented for discussion by the Chieftain, Gen. Ma rsha ll Magruder, and<br />
moved by Douglas Neil Magruder and seconded by H erbert T. Magruder and Miss<br />
Emma Muncaster : "Be it resolved that a committee be appointed and fifty dollars<br />
($50.00) per yea r be set aside fr om the T reasury toward s plans for the celebra tion<br />
of the 50th Anniversary of this Society in the year 1959." Voted on and approved.<br />
5. It was moved by Thomas G. Magruder and seconded that the "Five-Year<br />
Survey F inancia l Report" presented by Douglas Neil Magruder, be accept ed as<br />
th e aud it for the past year. Th is was voted on and approved.<br />
6. Miss Regina M. Hill presented the following Amendment to th e Ru les :<br />
"I move that the Council recommend at the <strong>1954</strong> Gathering's Business Sess ion<br />
of the Clan the following : "To change Rule XVII by makin g Section 2, Section 3,<br />
and add as Section 2 the following : That the Assista nt to the Chieftain be authorized<br />
to sign checks with the Chief tain and /or the T reas ure r, in the inability of<br />
either one of them to do so." Thi s Amendment was signed by the following<br />
persons: Douglas Neil Magruder, Mar shall Magrude r, Louise Verdery, E lizabeth<br />
H . Dwyer, Marjorie H . Loveless, Emma ,"V. Mu ncaster, Mrs. Basil W. W aters, Ir.,<br />

7. It was recommended that a committee of three be appointed to make a<br />
"Study" of markers ; to establish a complete record of marke r s that have been<br />
erected and to plan for the erection of futu re ones. T his was voted on and approved.<br />
8. Douglas Neil Magruder made a motion that Mrs. Susie May Geddes van<br />
den Berg, in recognition of her life-long devotion and efforts in behalf of this<br />
Society, be made an "Honorary Life Member" of the American Clan Gregor<br />
Society. Thi s was seconded by all present and unanimously voted on. All prese nt<br />
stood in approva l.<br />
Th e question of the number of Year Books to be ordered in the future and<br />
the price of back issues to be sold, be referred hereafter to th e Chieftain and<br />
the Editor.<br />
Th e report of the Nominating Committee was given by the Chairman, T homas<br />
