2. Genus Amplexus.<br />

Corallum resembling Zaphrentis, excepting that <strong>the</strong> septa do not extend to <strong>the</strong> centre<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> visceral chamber, and leave <strong>the</strong> upper surface <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> tabulae naked and smooth in<br />

that part. The sejitalfossula well characterised in <strong>the</strong> upper portion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> corallura, but<br />

not so on <strong>the</strong> lower floors. Tahul(B highly <strong>de</strong>veloped.<br />

3. Genus Menophyllum.<br />

Corallum resembling Zaphrentis, excepting that a small septal fossula is situated on<br />

each si<strong>de</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> large one, and that one half <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> central part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> calice is occupied by<br />

an elevated, smooth portion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> tabula, which resembles a crescent.<br />

Menophyllum tenui-marginattim, nob.<br />

4. Genus Lophophyllum.<br />

Corallum resembling Zaphrentis, excepting that a crestiform columella occupies <strong>the</strong><br />

centre <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> calice, and is in continuity by one <strong>of</strong> its ends with a small septum, placed in<br />

<strong>the</strong> middle <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> septal fossula, and by <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r end with <strong>the</strong> opposite primary septum.<br />

5. Genus Anisophyllum.<br />

Corallum resembhng Zaphrentis, excepting by <strong>the</strong> great <strong>de</strong>velopment <strong>of</strong> three primary<br />

septa, one <strong>of</strong> which is placed facing <strong>the</strong> septal fossula ; this /o.s'.S7//« extending much towards<br />

<strong>the</strong> centre <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

calice.<br />

6. Ge7ius Baryphyllum.<br />

Corallum very short. Calice quite superficial. A slightly <strong>de</strong>veloped septal fossula,<br />

corresponding to one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> branches <strong>of</strong> a cross, <strong>the</strong> three o<strong>the</strong>r branches <strong>of</strong> which are<br />

constituted by well-<strong>de</strong>veloped primary septa. The younger septa not arranged in a regular<br />

radiate circle, but inclined obliquely towards <strong>the</strong> primary ones.<br />
