The general form <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> corallum is similar to that <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Isis, Gorgonia, &c., in <strong>the</strong><br />

or<strong>de</strong>r <strong>of</strong> Alcyonaria ; but may be distinguished from <strong>the</strong>se by its sm-face being spinidous<br />

or smooth, whereas it is always sulcated in Alcyonaria.<br />
