12. Genus Cyathophtlltjm.<br />

Goldfuss (iu parte), Petref. Germ., vol. i, p. 54, 1826.<br />

Corallum simple or composite. No costtE. Septa well <strong>de</strong>veloped, extending to <strong>the</strong><br />

centre <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> calice, and twisted toge<strong>the</strong>r so as to produce <strong>the</strong> appearance <strong>of</strong> a small columella.<br />

TabulcB occupying only <strong>the</strong> centre <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> visceral chamber ; <strong>the</strong> outer portion <strong>of</strong><br />

which is filled up with numerous vesicular dissepiments. A single wall, situated exteriorly,<br />

and provi<strong>de</strong>d with a complete epi<strong>the</strong>ca.<br />

13. Genus Pachtphyllum.<br />

CoraUum composite, and increasing by lateral gemmation. Corallites united in <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

lower portion by means <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> great <strong>de</strong>velopment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> costse and <strong>the</strong> exo<strong>the</strong>ca, and not<br />

<strong>de</strong>limitated by an individual epi<strong>the</strong>ca.<br />

14. Genus Campophyllum.<br />

Corallum simple, veiy tall, and protected by an epi<strong>the</strong>ca. Septa well <strong>de</strong>veloped.<br />

Tabula very large, and smooth towards <strong>the</strong> centre. Interseptal loculi tilled with small<br />

vesiculse.<br />

Corallum simple, and differing from Cyathophyllum by <strong>the</strong> structure <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> wall, which<br />

<strong>de</strong>stitute <strong>of</strong> epi<strong>the</strong>ca, and covered with sublamellar costal.<br />

16. Genus Omphyma.<br />

Corallum simple, turbinate. Wall provi<strong>de</strong>d with a mdimentary epi<strong>the</strong>ca, and producing<br />

radiciform appendices. Septa very numerous, equally <strong>de</strong>veloped, and divi<strong>de</strong>d into<br />

four groups by an equal number <strong>of</strong> shallow septal fossulae. Tabidce well <strong>de</strong>veloped, and<br />

smooth towards <strong>the</strong> centre.<br />
