This year’s fairground season in Bergisches Land
begins with a shortened Solingen Frühjahrskirmes
by five days (23 rd to 27 th March).
The reason for the shortened running time is the success
of the local premier league-handball club, the
"Bergischen Handballclub”. The Solingen Frühjahrskirmes
takes place traditionally on the parking
area in front of the Klingenhalle – but even this area
will be in use for the home game of the BHC on the
31 st of March. Initially the event should have already
started at the beginning of March with its usual one
week duration. However, those responsible at the
Showman Association Rhine-Ruhr-Wuppertal feared
weather uncertainty - too often it had snowed or
rained at that time of the year. Finally however an
agreement could be made with the administrating
association for a five-day event on the parking area
at the end of the month. And so for the first time, the
Solingen Frühjahrskirmes will begin on a Friday. A
special opening offer will be the happy hour with
strongly reduced prices. The fireworks will be
presented on the Saturday, with the fair ending on the
family day on the Tuesday. The shortened period and
the first Friday beginning of the fair was the cause for
special tasks for the organiser. For this reason,
advertising has been considerably intensified. In
addition to the around 150 large placards, there have
also been additional banners placed in the city area,
advising of the new dates and shortened run of the
event. The advertising activities in the newspapers and
radio channels has remained just as high as previously.
The Frühjahrskirmes, thanks to the engagement on
the part of the Showman Association, has developed
into a good start event over the past years.
Following its success last year, the Booster "Maxximum”
from the Zuidema family will return once again
to Solingen. The Freefall Tower "Adrenalin” from the
Bügler family could be engaged as a novelty for the
event. Regular presentations at Solingen are the
dodgem track "Drive in” (Schmidt), the Musik Express
"Beach Party” (Milz/v.d. Bosch), Sterzenbach’s
simulator and the "Breakdance” from Klinge. And the
chain ride from the Fuhrmann family will travel to the
event from Wuppertal for the first time. The Markmann
"Aqua-Labyrinth” rounds off the offers on large attractions.
For the small fairground visitors there will be a
mini-dodgem, the "Saturn” kiddie chain ride, and a
kiddie carousel from Sührmann on offer. ■
