were very well frequented at lunchtime every day.<br />
Indeed, visitors often had to be lucky to get a seat<br />
at all. Almost all the tents were beautifully decorated<br />
and provided a cosy atmosphere. One of these<br />
temporary restaurants even offered a photo exhibition<br />
about the history of French fairground gastronomy.<br />
Various meat specialities were prepared before<br />
the eyes of the public on large grills built up in<br />
front of the tents – and delicious they were! Grilled<br />
suckling pig served with a salad and French fries is<br />
a more conservative and highly popular delicacy in<br />
<strong>Rouen</strong>. However, the menu also included spicy Merguez<br />
sausages, Quiche Lorraine, snails, steak tartar,<br />
or soups or beef Carpaccio to be enjoyed with<br />
wine, cider or beer. Those who think that beer is sold<br />
