Other additions are “Pleasurewood Pony Rail” a
Pony Trek rail ride, “Lighthouse” a 10 m tall family
drop tower, both purchased from Loudon Castle
which closed in 2011, and “Laser Labyrith”. The
park’s Huss TriStar is also having a major refurbishment
that will include conversion from a travelling to
a park model, and will debut with the new name “Tide
Traveller”. The attractions represent the first major investment
in new rides since 2007 when the park installed
“Wipeout”, a Vekoma Boomerang relocated
from the defunct American Adventure theme park.
Paultons Park
A new ride will go into operation at Paultons Park in
time for the Easter holidays. “Magma” is an SBF Visa
Group Drop’n Twist tower ride that stands 24.3 m tall.
Guests will enter the caverns of a smoking volcano
where they board one of 16 seats before being blast
into the air while spinning, and then plummeting
back to ground. The level of theming of this latest ride
is a sure sign of the new direction the park is taking
following the success of “Peppa Pig World” which
opened in 2011. Elsewhere in the park the aged
“Magic Forest” Walkthrough has been replaced with
a new eatery, and the “Flying Saucer” rider has been
sold.
Pleasure Beach Blackpool
Pleasure Beach Blackpool is expected to announce
a Wallace and Gromit themed Darkride replacing the
“Gold Mine” that closed in 2011. The re-theming has
long been rumoured and was semi confirmed by
Nick Park, the creators of Wallace and Gromit. The
park’s indoor log flume “Valhalla” has also undergone
major renovation
Fun City
The new TV series of “Sooty and Sweep”, is proving
so successful that for this year, “Sooty’s TV Studio”
is being built at Fun City - Brean Leisure Park complete
with sets and props from the TV show. A new
Sooty meet and greet will also enable guests to
interact with the 64 year old bear that many generations
of park visitors will recognise. David Cadell, coowner
of Fun City,
also stars in the TV
series, which was primarily
filmed in the
park.
