INTERNATIONAL TOY FAIR 2012 IN NÜRNBERG
The International Toy Fair in
Nürnberg was held this year
from February 1 st to 6 th . It is the
leading fair for toys, hobby
and leisure articles, and all in
all 2,700 exhibitors from 63
countries presented more
than one million products,
including some 70,000 novelties.
As a result, it was hard
for the roughly 80,000 trade
visitors from 114 countries to
get a truly thorough overview
of all the products.

Novelty: the “Fun Schiff”
from Faller
Interesting for model builders were exhibits from
relevant manufacturers, who offered among
others a number of interesting novelties from the
fairground and circus model sector.
Faller
The presentation of the Faller novelties provided
a true surprise with Schneider’s “Fun Schiff”, a
longstanding wish come true for builders of H0-
scale models. The model of the Huss Swing Boat
would already have been ready for production
three years ago if the drive system had not
caused some problems. The drive glitches could
only be solved by the cooperation between the
Gebr. Faller GmbH and Uhlenbrock Elektronik
GmbH. The “Fun Schiff” model is powered by a
new, very quiet and powerful direct current motor
with metal gearing, which is mounted directly
on the axle. It slows down the descent of the
boat and accelerates its ascent, guaranteeing a
very smooth and realistic swinging movement,
which can be activated either manually via a keyboard
or by electronic control. The model
exhibited in Nürnberg was identical to the serial
model in every detail. Faller’s “Fun Schiff” will
probably be available from October at a price of
€ 199 (Art-No. 140420). In March, the model of
the “Traber-Hochseilartisten” will finally be
launched. The delivery was somewhat delayed,
as the manufacturer of a major accessory was
not able to deliver in time. In addition to the “Fun
