Entire Terai, Central and Western part of
Inner Terai and 19 out of 7S districts have
emerged as the areas of very high growth during
1971-81. The rate of natural increase in these
districts during the decade is very high. In
addition to this, the districts belonging to this
category owe their very high growth to considerable
amount of net in-migration. Of the 19
districts belonging to this category, 16 districta
are experiencing very high or high rate of net
in-migration.
Among geographical regions and sub-regions
it is only the Kathmandu Valley and Eastern Inner
Terai which recorded a high growth of population
during 1971-81. Sixteen districts also recorded
a high growth of population. With regard to the
components of population growth in one set of
districts the high growttl of population could be
attributed to both very high rate of natural increase
and net in-migration. The another set of
districts although have experienced low or high
net ou~gration have exhibited high RTI only
because of very high RNI.
