It has been widely accepted that mortality
level is associated with nutritional level,hygiene,
sanitation, health care system, general condition
of living and prevalence of communicable and
epidemic diseasea.Socio-economic development has
a direct effect on these factors and thus helps to
reduce mortality level. Socio-economic development
which implies increase in general living
standard and improvement in the nutritional level
through an improvement in the quantity and quality
of food helps to reduce mortality level. Similarly,
socio-economic development also implies
changes in the amount and quality of health care, .
applications of public health standards in sanitation,
sewerage and water supply, general control
of the epidemic diseases and improvements in distributing
these benefits throughout the society. All
these amenities directly increase the health condition
of the people and thus reduce the mortality
level. So, it is through better nutritional level,
health condition, medical facilities and control
over epidemics that socio-economic development
reduces mortality level.
