73 regions, Hill region has experienced the lowest growth in population during 1911-1981. In the first two decades the Hill region experienced negative rate of growth in population followed by a sudden high annual growth rate in the subsequent decades. This was again followed by the low population growth rate in the remaining three decades from 1952/54 to 1981. Thus, the Hill region does not seem to have experienced a systematic growth during the whole period. On the whole the rate of population growth in this region can be considered as moderate. The population growth pattern of Kathmandu Valley is more or less the same as that of Hill region. In the initial two decades this region has experienced a slow and negative growth. This is followed by a higher growth in subsequent decades. The growth rate of population in Kathmandu Valley has not been systematic. But on the Whole the rate of population growth in this region could be considered high. Terai region is the fastest growing region during this period. It has experienced higher growth compared to national growth during six decades out of total seven. This region has never experienced
