Program Overview<br />
Foreign Language Program<br />
Our Foreign Language program offers continuum development in the target languages to<br />
achieve proficiency in effective communication. In all courses a thematic and<br />
communicative approach is used. Students are expected to actively participate and<br />
communicate in the target language.<br />
Students are placed in courses that meet their needs and offer them an academic challenge<br />
based on language skills assessments. If a student possesses a degree of fluency that is<br />
beyond the level offered in our language curriculum, ISM may not be able to provide a<br />
taught course in that language.<br />
Students who enter High <strong>School</strong> as ESL students do not have to meet the Modern Language<br />
requirement. However, they are encouraged to take at least one credit of any language.<br />
