WELLNESS<br />
Wellness Grade 9<br />
Pre-requisite: None<br />
1 semester, 0.5 credit<br />
Wellness studies issues related to health and lifestyle focusing on four types of well-being:<br />
physical, emotional, mental, and social. The degree to which these interrelated aspects are<br />
nurtured directly influences our quality of life. This course investigates topics relevant to<br />
young adults who are entering High <strong>School</strong>. It seeks to provide information and experiences<br />
which will assist them in continuing their development into adulthood and to promote<br />
behaviors and attitudes which will help to make their life more satisfying and<br />
rewarding. This is a one-semester course for all Grade 9 students.<br />
OTHER COURSES<br />
Information Literacy and Research Methods Grade 11<br />
Pre-requisite: This course is required for all IB Diploma students<br />
First quarter Grade 11, Pass/Fail<br />
Information Literacy and Research Methods is offered in the first quarter of Grade 11.<br />
Students are introduced to advanced research strategies designed to prepare them for<br />
Theory of Knowledge and the IB extended essay. In addition, students are exposed to a<br />
variety of academic information sources and the concepts of academic honesty and<br />
academic rigor are discussed. Students are required to practice new skills and throughout<br />
the course they will be challenged to incorporate these skills with their existing knowledge<br />
to produce a detailed piece of research. By the end of the semester, students will be<br />
prepared to complete their IB diploma with confidence. Candidates for the IB diploma are<br />
required to take this course.<br />
Office Assistant (may be repeated) Grade 11, 12<br />
Pre-requisite: None<br />
1 semester, Pass/Fail<br />
Office Assistants are expected to report to their assigned office on time for each session<br />
and to complete tasks assigned by the administrators/counselors/secretaries. Such tasks<br />
may include filing, poster making, showing new students around, delivering messages and<br />
answering the phones. Passing the course is based on attendance, punctuality, efficiency,<br />
responsibility and attitude. The grade will show on report card and transcript but is not<br />
used in the computation of the student’s G.P.A.<br />
No more than two students will be assigned to one office in a period.<br />
