Introduction to Filipino Literature 1 Grade 9, 10, 11, 12<br />

Pre-requisite: Near native speaker<br />

1 year, 1 credit<br />

This course prepares students for the IB Language A Literature course. A variety of oral and<br />

written texts are used to enhance the development of the four skills of language through a<br />

thematic approach. Students will also become familiar with the important features of the<br />

target country.<br />

Assessment is also carried out through a variety of tasks including homework, quizzes, essay<br />

writing, oral presentations, interviews and semester examinations.<br />

Pre-requisite: Introduction to Filipino Literature 1<br />

1 year, 1 credit<br />

<strong>International</strong> Baccalaureate<br />

IB Chinese B, French B, Japanese B, Spanish B S1 and S2 Grade 11, 12<br />

Pre-requisites for S1: Level 3 or Level 2 with teacher recommendation<br />

2 years, 1 credit per year<br />

This course focuses on the study of a wide range of written and oral texts that are related<br />

to the Core Topics (Communication and Media, Global Issues, Social Relationships) and<br />

Optional Topics (Cultural Diversity, Customs and Traditions, Health, Leisure, Science and<br />

Technology) in the Language B program. The Standard Level Language program aims to train<br />

students to communicate comfortably and effectively in the language both orally and in<br />

written form. At the end of two years, the students will be assessed on their ability to<br />

handle and process information, write their own texts, understand and respond to oral and<br />

written communication and enter into intelligent discussion of a wide range of topics.<br />

Students will also develop awareness and appreciation of people of different cultures.<br />

Assessment is carried out through a variety of tasks including homework, quizzes, essay<br />

writing, oral presentations, interviews, role plays and examinations.<br />
