Computer competency is required and can<br />
be demonstrated by taking a beginning class in<br />
computer studies (e.g., CST 130 or CST 190). A<br />
cumulative grade point average <strong>of</strong> 3.0 is the minimum<br />
required to be considered for acceptance<br />
into the program. Students must inform the 3-2<br />
advisor (in the Psychology Department) <strong>of</strong> their<br />
intention to apply to the 3-2 program before the<br />
beginning <strong>of</strong> their junior year.<br />

Physical Therapy<br />
<strong>Courses</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Study</strong> –<br />
Pre-Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Programs <strong>of</strong> <strong>Study</strong><br />
Students interested in pursuing a Master’s degree<br />
in physical therapy after graduation from <strong>William</strong><br />
<strong>Jewell</strong> should consult with the pre-physical therapy<br />
advisor. The physical therapy requirements for<br />
physical therapy master’s programs vary, but the<br />
advisor can assist in the selection <strong>of</strong> courses that<br />
meet the requirements <strong>of</strong> a specific school or in<br />
the selection <strong>of</strong> courses that meet a composite list<br />
<strong>of</strong> requirements derived from reviewing the<br />
requirements <strong>of</strong> 48 different schools.<br />
Recommended major: biology or psychology.<br />
A student who completes a baccalaureate degree in<br />
any major at <strong>William</strong> <strong>Jewell</strong> <strong>College</strong> and the<br />
requirements for admission to the Master <strong>of</strong><br />
Physical Therapy Program at Southwest Baptist<br />
University (listed below) will automatically qualify<br />
for the interview selection process at Southwestern<br />
Baptist University. This allows the student to skip<br />
the initial ranking and selection process.<br />
Requirements for the Master <strong>of</strong> Physical Therapy<br />
Program at Southwest Baptist University:<br />
1. Students must have a minimum 2.75 overall<br />
grade point average.<br />
2. Students must complete the graduate<br />
record exam.<br />
3. Students must complete and return the PT<br />
application packet by June 15th in the year<br />
prior to enrollment. Students may apply for<br />
early consideration.<br />
4. Students must document up to 40 hours<br />
experience/observation in physical therapy.<br />
5. International students must meet eligibility<br />
requirements as outlined in section on<br />
Admission to the University in the Southwest<br />
Baptist University catalog.<br />
6. Students must demonstrate computer literacy.<br />
CST 130 Microcomputer meets this requirement.<br />
7. Students must complete all <strong>of</strong> the following<br />
prerequisite courses with a minimum <strong>of</strong> a<br />
“C” and a 3.0 prerequisite GPA. Prerequisites<br />
should not be taken pass/fail.<br />
