Organizational Communication<br />
Organizational communication is a pre-pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
major that serves well those who desire to work in a<br />
business or other organizations but who would like<br />
to focus on positions relating to communication<br />
processes (public relations directors, marketing pr<strong>of</strong>essionals,<br />
in-house communication specialists, consultants<br />
concerning communication in the work<br />
place, etc.). Although the major is pre-pr<strong>of</strong>essional,<br />
it is still liberal arts in nature and allows some flexibility<br />
<strong>of</strong> focus depending on what specific career the<br />
student wishes to pursue. The courses required in<br />

Electronic Media Emphasis<br />
The communication with an electronic media<br />
emphasis major serves students who wish to pursue<br />
a pr<strong>of</strong>ession in electronic media. The learning laboratories<br />
for this major are <strong>Jewell</strong> 91.9 FM KWJC,<br />
the campus radio station, and The Hilltop Monitor,<br />
the campus newspaper.<br />
The communication major with an electronic media<br />
emphasis prepares students for a career in media<br />
with course work that blends theory with praxis. All<br />
majors will graduate with pr<strong>of</strong>essional broadcasting<br />
experience on an FM station in Market #29. In<br />
addition to this pr<strong>of</strong>essional experience, majors will<br />
also have the opportunity to intern at Kansas City<br />
television stations and other Kansas City radio stations.<br />
