and were enjoying <strong>the</strong> fine views which is here had<br />
<strong>at</strong> sunset.<br />
We came home, where C— found a bouquet filled<br />
with ambrosia and mignionette, which had been<br />
sent to her, and which determined her to go to <strong>the</strong><br />
ball this evening ; although to-m<strong>or</strong>row will be <strong>the</strong><br />
day <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> gre<strong>at</strong> pic-nic.<br />
LINES TO THE ALBATROSS.<br />
Bird <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> light<br />
and snowy wing<br />
Fair harbinger <strong>of</strong> cheer !<br />
Whi<strong>the</strong>r now, from thy wandering,<br />
Say, Alb<strong>at</strong>ross ! why<br />
here !<br />
Thy home is in <strong>the</strong> far <strong>of</strong>f isles,<br />
Beyond <strong>the</strong> sou<strong>the</strong>rn sea,<br />
In lands where summer never smiles ;<br />
No visitant but <strong>the</strong>e.<br />
Wliere hast thou been ^—^wh<strong>at</strong> hast thou seen!<br />
In crossing o'er <strong>the</strong> main.<br />
When flo<strong>at</strong>ing like an airy queen,<br />
Above <strong>the</strong> winds and rain.<br />
