I follow <strong>the</strong>e, thro' e<strong>the</strong>r sky,<br />
I am with <strong>the</strong>e and thine<br />
I see <strong>the</strong>e from <strong>the</strong> dolphin fly,<br />
And leave <strong>the</strong> fisher's line.<br />
I live with <strong>the</strong>e—thro' many days<br />
Of st<strong>or</strong>m and tempest loud,<br />
And hear <strong>the</strong>e sing thy evening lays<br />
Above <strong>the</strong> flapping shroud.<br />
I hear thy scream<br />
<strong>of</strong> wildest note,<br />
A rifted wreck goes by ;<br />
Thy dirge is o'er a lifeless bo<strong>at</strong>,<br />
The sea gives up a sigh.<br />
Proud bird !<br />
thou hast been sailing long<br />
All over sea and sh<strong>or</strong>e,<br />
But none again will hear thy song,<br />
Thy wing will tire no m<strong>or</strong>e.<br />
Wh<strong>at</strong> brought <strong>the</strong>e de<strong>at</strong>h I do not know.<br />
But Alb<strong>at</strong>ross. I fear<br />
It reach'd <strong>the</strong>e from some whizzing bow<br />
Of ancient Mariner.<br />

This m<strong>or</strong>ning being <strong>the</strong> one fixed on f<strong>or</strong> <strong>the</strong> gre<strong>at</strong><br />
pic-nic, which had been in agit<strong>at</strong>ion f<strong>or</strong> <strong>the</strong> last<br />
week, many an anxious eye was turned tow^ards<br />
<strong>the</strong> sky to ascertain if it was favourable to our<br />
wishes and <strong>the</strong> proposed amusement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> day.
