made us.<br />
On each pl<strong>at</strong>e <strong>at</strong> table v^as a card, with <strong>the</strong> visiter's<br />
name—but a beginning <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> novelties <strong>of</strong> this<br />
region to some <strong>of</strong> us. We were weighed in <strong>the</strong><br />
p<strong>at</strong>ent scale th<strong>at</strong> stands in <strong>the</strong> colonnade, which<br />
runs <strong>the</strong> whole length <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> main building here,<br />
somewh<strong>at</strong> after <strong>the</strong> fashion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> hotels <strong>at</strong> Sar<strong>at</strong>oga.<br />

This place is chiefly celebr<strong>at</strong>ed f<strong>or</strong> its delightful<br />

We went to <strong>the</strong> b<strong>at</strong>h. Luxury <strong>of</strong> all luxuries<br />
It is w<strong>or</strong>th a pilgrimage <strong>of</strong> many miles to b<strong>at</strong>he in<br />
this delightful stream. The b<strong>at</strong>h, over which is a<br />
wooden building in <strong>the</strong> f<strong>or</strong>m <strong>of</strong> an octagon, is about<br />
f<strong>or</strong>ty feet in diameter, large enough f<strong>or</strong> fifty persons<br />
<strong>at</strong> a time ; <strong>the</strong> w<strong>at</strong>er rises from <strong>the</strong> bottom to <strong>the</strong><br />
depth <strong>of</strong> five feet, in a warm st<strong>at</strong>e <strong>of</strong> about 97 degrees<br />
Farenheit; but it has th<strong>at</strong> peculiar temper<strong>at</strong>ure<br />
which no o<strong>the</strong>r w<strong>at</strong>er, by artificial means, can<br />
