<strong>the</strong> internal <strong>or</strong>gans, promoting <strong>the</strong>ir secretions, and<br />
diminishing visceral congestion. If taken <strong>at</strong> too<br />
high a temper<strong>at</strong>ure, b<strong>at</strong>hs act as stimulants, increasing<br />
<strong>the</strong> frequency <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> pulse.<br />
Dr. Hunt, in his pamphlet, gives <strong>the</strong> following<br />
directions f<strong>or</strong> using <strong>the</strong> w<strong>at</strong>er <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Red <strong>Sulphur</strong> :—<br />
" Commence by taking one glass <strong>of</strong> w<strong>at</strong>er <strong>at</strong> bed time,<br />
and one bef<strong>or</strong>e breakfast: after a few days, take two<br />
glasses <strong>at</strong> bed time, and two bef<strong>or</strong>e breakfast; one <strong>at</strong><br />
11 A. M., and <strong>at</strong> 5 o'clock, p. m. This quantity will<br />
generaity oper<strong>at</strong>e freely on <strong>the</strong> bowels. If it is desired<br />
to act on <strong>the</strong> kidneys, increase <strong>the</strong> quaintity <strong>of</strong> w<strong>at</strong>er to<br />
three <strong>or</strong> four glasses, between a light supper and bed<br />
time, and <strong>the</strong><br />
same quantity between day light and breakfast<br />
time ; two glasses <strong>at</strong> noon, and one <strong>or</strong> two glasses<br />
about 5 o'clock, p. m., taking care to exercise freely<br />
after<br />
drinking.<br />
