found a young lady aflfecting <strong>the</strong> delic<strong>at</strong>e and interesting,<br />
quite shocked to find th<strong>at</strong> she weighed a<br />
hundred pounds. Wh<strong>at</strong> must have been her contempt<br />
f<strong>or</strong> me, who weigh one hundred and twentythree?<br />
however, I am told a young lady may w^eigh<br />

After<br />
dinner, we heard some delightful music <strong>at</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> ball room, both vocal and instrumental, from<br />
Mrs. and her sister Miss ; it was so<br />
<strong>at</strong>tractive, th<strong>at</strong> we remained <strong>the</strong>re f<strong>or</strong><br />
some hours.<br />

We wei'e invited to a lunch <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> Colonnade this<br />
m<strong>or</strong>ning. We met <strong>the</strong>re a very agreeable company<br />
<strong>of</strong> some dozen ladies and gentlemen ; <strong>the</strong> refreshments<br />
w^ere fine, and with much wit and good humour,<br />
<strong>the</strong> two hours went <strong>of</strong>f' very pleasantly. The<br />
ball in <strong>the</strong> evening was quite gay; <strong>the</strong> <strong>or</strong>der <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
dance is two cotillions, <strong>the</strong>n^a waltz, <strong>the</strong> Spanish<br />
dance, <strong>or</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong> reel, being generally <strong>the</strong> finale
