Interpretation<br />

Consider the form <strong>and</strong> medium <strong>of</strong> performance <strong>of</strong> a work or collection <strong>of</strong> works as<br />

given in the uniform title in the main entry as well as from the description in determining<br />

whether <strong>to</strong> make the note.<br />

Do not name the medium <strong>of</strong> performance in a note if it is implied by the title or<br />

other title information (e.g., “Chorale prelude”; “Manfred : symphonie en 4 tableaux”) or by the<br />

musical form stated in a note made under this <strong>rule</strong> (e.g., “Opera in two acts”; “Ballet”).<br />

If a work is published for a medium <strong>of</strong> performance other than the original, give<br />

the original medium <strong>of</strong> performance in a note if it is not clear from the rest <strong>of</strong> the description<br />

or the uniform title <strong>and</strong> the information is readily available.<br />
