PCC Practice<br />

a) Serials. If information for the type <strong>and</strong> extent <strong>of</strong> resource area is<br />

added, deleted, or changed on a subsequent issue or part, make a note if the change is<br />

considered <strong>to</strong> be important.<br />

b) Integrating resources. If the information for the type <strong>and</strong> extent <strong>of</strong><br />

resource area is added, deleted, or changed on a subsequent iteration, change the type<br />

<strong>and</strong> extent <strong>of</strong> resource area <strong>to</strong> reflect the latest iteration <strong>and</strong> make a note if the change<br />

is considered <strong>to</strong> be important.<br />

Note: LC does not use this area.<br />

Frequency<br />

LC/PCC practice: Always make a note on the known frequency <strong>of</strong> a serial or<br />

<strong>of</strong> the updates <strong>to</strong> an integrating resource even if the frequency is apparent from the rest<br />

<strong>of</strong> the description.<br />

Integrating Resources<br />

Include the word "update" or "updates" with the frequency word <strong>to</strong> clarify<br />

that the resource itself does not have that frequency (e.g., "Updated quarterly,"<br />

"Monthly updates").<br />

Integrating Resources: Change in Title Other Than Title Proper<br />

MARC 21 tagging practice: When giving a note for a change in a title other<br />

than a title proper (e.g., added title page title, title bar title), give the note in<br />

field 246 <strong>and</strong> explain the situation in subfield $i; do not use field 247 1 <strong>and</strong>/or 547 2 .<br />

The existing text for fields 247 <strong>and</strong> 547 will be revised (see revised text below) in the<br />

next MARC 21 Format for Bibliographic Data update <strong>to</strong> reflect the use <strong>of</strong> these fields in
