UNIT DJ6J 04 (314) Word Process<strong>in</strong>g Software 3 Unit Summary Use word process<strong>in</strong>g software to produce complex documents, for example, newsletters, journals, complex reports, form letters, form envelopes <strong>and</strong> form address labels. This is based on the e-skills Area of Competence: Word Process<strong>in</strong>g Software, <strong>level</strong> 3 Unit. You will apply the follow<strong>in</strong>g skills: Presentation Plann<strong>in</strong>g Organis<strong>in</strong>g Communicat<strong>in</strong>g Us<strong>in</strong>g technology Read<strong>in</strong>g Check<strong>in</strong>g Performance <strong>in</strong>dicators You will: 1 Convert files to another suitable format, where necessary. 2 Export <strong>and</strong> import, l<strong>in</strong>k objects between different software. 3 Make references to external data eg, hyperl<strong>in</strong>ks, object l<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g, embedd<strong>in</strong>g. 4 Use advanced techniques for comb<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g or merg<strong>in</strong>g versions of <strong>in</strong>formation from different users. 5 Use advanced edit<strong>in</strong>g techniques appropriately, such as: sort <strong>and</strong> merge a data source with a ma<strong>in</strong> document, change security, author<strong>in</strong>g tools, create, modify <strong>and</strong> merge different versions <strong>and</strong> improve efficiency for users. 6 Format complex word process<strong>in</strong>g documents effectively us<strong>in</strong>g appropriate tools <strong>and</strong> techniques for sections (formatt<strong>in</strong>g text differently <strong>in</strong> each section) <strong>and</strong> styles (create, rename, modify styles eg, characters, tabs, paragraphs). 7 Use appropriate tools <strong>and</strong> techniques for creat<strong>in</strong>g, edit<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> formatt<strong>in</strong>g complex tables such as convert text to tables <strong>and</strong> tables to text. 8 Create suitable templates. 9 Change document structure, such as head<strong>in</strong>gs, footnotes, bookmarks, watermarks, captions <strong>and</strong> numbered paragraphs, <strong>and</strong> also cross references to these, such as <strong>in</strong>dexes <strong>and</strong> table of content. 10 Check structure, style <strong>and</strong> formatt<strong>in</strong>g are used to aid mean<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> complex text.
