Tribal statutes <strong>and</strong> treaties<br />

Several treaties with various Montana tribes were executed in the mid-1800s. These treaties,<br />

however, were all with the Federal Government. There are five reservations within the <strong>CBP</strong><br />

100-mile operational corridor, including the Chippewa-Cree Indians of the Rocky Boy's<br />

Reservation; Fort Belknap Indian Community of the Fort Belknap Reservation of Montana; the<br />

Blackfeet Tribe of the Blackfeet Indian Reservation of Montana; Confederated Salish &<br />

Kootenai Tribes of the Flathead Reservation; <strong>and</strong> the Assiniboine <strong>and</strong> Sioux Tribes of the Fort<br />

Peck Indian Reservation.<br />

Federal l<strong>and</strong>s <strong>and</strong> agencies<br />

Several Federal agencies administer or maintain l<strong>and</strong>s within the <strong>CBP</strong> 100-mile border corridor<br />

in Montana. These agencies include the BLM, Bureau of Reclamation (BOR), DOD, USFWS,<br />

USFS, <strong>and</strong> NPS.<br />

5.7.4.1 Idaho<br />

State Historic Cultural Resource Laws, Statutes, <strong>and</strong> Regulations<br />

In addition to the Federal regulatory framework <strong>gov</strong>erning the management of cultural resources,<br />

state laws (<strong>and</strong> the regulations <strong>and</strong> agreements emanating from them) <strong>gov</strong>ern the treatment of<br />

historic <strong>and</strong> archaeological resources in Idaho. Such laws are generally restricted to protecting<br />

cultural resources that may be threatened by Federal, state-funded, or state-permitted projects.<br />

Idaho's cultural resources regulatory framework that may be relevant to <strong>CBP</strong>’s mission <strong>and</strong><br />

Idaho Statute 18-7027: Desecration of grave, cemetery, headstone, or place of burial;<br />

Idaho Statute 27-502: Protection of Graves, Prohibited Acts.<br />
