The sec<strong>on</strong>d phase is the membrane computati<strong>on</strong> (Fig. 2). In Step 3 the membrane<br />

system works, i.e. communicati<strong>on</strong> rules are executed in membrane borders.<br />

When the membrane computati<strong>on</strong> has halted (Step 4) a new membrane c<strong>on</strong>figurati<strong>on</strong><br />

emerges but the partial multiset approximati<strong>on</strong> space is unchanged. At<br />

the same time daem<strong>on</strong>s are activated provided that there is any applicable daem<strong>on</strong>.<br />

If there is not, the whole computati<strong>on</strong>al process stops. However, when<br />

there are applicable daem<strong>on</strong>s, they fire (Step 5). As a result, a new partial multiset<br />

approximati<strong>on</strong> space emerges in which the membrane borders are changed.<br />

Thus, the membrane computati<strong>on</strong> can start again.<br />
