'Music/ 'Pawnbroker/ 'Pussycat'
Top Trio in Bright Detroit Week
DETROIT—Three holdovers were well
ahead of the field in the first-run grossing
race for the week. "The Sound of Music"
scored 210 in its 19th week at the
Madison. "Tlie Pawnbroker" added a 220
third week at the Studio-North and the
Camelot theatres while "What's New Pussycat?"
was the town-topper with 275 F>er
cent in its foiu-th week at Uie Mercury and
Terrace theatres. The strongest newcomer
was "The Sandpiper," with 200 at the
Grand Circus and Mai Kai. Also displaying
boxoffice punch was "The Art of Love,"
which garnered a substantial 180 in its
seven-theatre opening.

panies will sponsor a "feasibility study'l
looking toward development of a new civic
center here.
The insurance company will underwrite i,
detailed study of the two-block redevelop
ment area bounded by Trumbull, Asylum-
Ann and Chui-ch streets. Currently situatet
in the tract are the AUyn Theatre (ABC
and E.M. Loew's Theatre.
The site will be studied as location for f
complex of retail stores and parking builj
around a convention hall-auditorium anij
exhibition hall.
The tract is already approved for razinj
as a redevelopment project with federal eia,
and a $3.2 million bond issue has been aPj
proved by city voters for Hartford's cos|
share.
