<strong>in</strong>terested <strong>in</strong> bioethics, it <strong>in</strong>cludes the most challeng<strong>in</strong>g issues of biomedic<strong>in</strong>e, such<br />
as protection of research subjects, reproductive and fem<strong>in</strong>ist bioethics, end of life<br />
care, health care justice, <strong>in</strong>tellectual disability, clon<strong>in</strong>g, gene therapy, eugenics. It<br />
also organizes tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g courses on bioethics: on June 2009 it will arranges the 35th<br />
Intensive Course on Bioethics.<br />
The library and <strong>in</strong>formation service web resource is a very useful source of<br />
<strong>in</strong>formation, where people can f<strong>in</strong>d quick l<strong>in</strong>ks to resources on special topics; search<br />
for articles, documents, books and audio-visuals resources; request a custom<br />
library; f<strong>in</strong>d publication, organizations, etc; check news and f<strong>in</strong>d library support.<br />
The Institute’s Library and Information Services area, has implemented a new<br />
programme for the promotion of research and education <strong>in</strong> bioethics <strong>in</strong> develop<strong>in</strong>g<br />
countries, called International Bioethics Exchange Programme. IBEP permits to<br />
donate to libraries abroad the volumes of the Bibliography on Bioethics, <strong>in</strong> order to<br />
support and to promote the development of bioethics references <strong>in</strong> those countries.<br />
Through IBEP it is also possible to contribute to the National reference Center for<br />
Bioethics Literature at Georgetown University. Several countries have become<br />
participants <strong>in</strong> this project.<br />

Global Forum for Health <strong>Research</strong><br />
GFHR<br />
The Global Forum for Health <strong>Research</strong> (GFHR) was established as an <strong>in</strong>dependent<br />
<strong>in</strong>ternational foundation <strong>in</strong> 1998, to promote health research to tackle the neglected<br />
diseases and conditions that cause ill health <strong>in</strong> develop<strong>in</strong>g countries and h<strong>in</strong>der social<br />
and economic development. S<strong>in</strong>ce its foundation, the GFHR has focussed its mission<br />
on help<strong>in</strong>g to redress the 10/90 imbalance, <strong>in</strong> the recognition that, still to date, few<br />
of the world’s resources for health research are directed to solv<strong>in</strong>g the health<br />
problems of develop<strong>in</strong>g countries.<br />
The 2009 Forum will be held <strong>in</strong> Havana, Cuba, from 16-20 November 2009 and it<br />
will focus on “Innovat<strong>in</strong>g for the health of all”. The Forum will gather health and<br />
science-related m<strong>in</strong>istries, research <strong>in</strong>stitutions and academia, development agencies<br />
and foundations, non-governmental organizations, civil society, the private sector<br />
and the media.<br />
