PROCEDURE:
(1) Pilotage is compulsory for all vessels over 200 gt entering or leaving the port
and is available H24.
(2) Pilotage is exempt for vessels in the services of the Sultanate of Oman.
(3) Pilotage exemption is also available on an ad hoc basis after consultation with
the Hr Mr. Notwithstanding the above, the Hr Mr may insist on the use of a Pilot in the
interest of port safety.
(4) Pilot boards in the following positions:
(a) Vessels with a draught of more than 8·4m: In the vicinity of the Fairway Lt buoy
(19°42′·87N 57°48′·82E)
(b) 19°42′·25N 57°45′·30E

(1) Notice of ETA: Vessels should send ETA 48h, 24h, 12h and 6h in advance via
e-mail to pilot@portduqm.com and update on VHF Ch 16, 2h in advance. ETA should
be confi rmed on VHF Ch 14.
(2) The 48h notice should contain the following information:
(a) Vessel’s name
(b) Call sign
(c) Flag
(d) IMO No
(e) MMSI No
(f) LOA
(g) Draught on arrival
(h) gt and nt
(i) Displacement
(j) Last port of call
(k) Next port of call
(l) IMDG - class, UN No, quantities
(m) ETA at Pilot Station
(3) The 24h, 12h and 6h notices should contain the following information:
(a) Vessel’s name
(b) Call sign
(c) MMSI No
(d) ETA at Pilot Station
(4) Notice of ETD: Vessels should send notice via email to pilot@portduqm.com at
the following times:
(a) 48h, 24h, 12h, 6h and 3h in advance (Oman Drydock facilities)
(b) On arrival, 3h and 2h in advance (Commercial Quay). The 2h notice should be
advised on VHF Ch 14.
(5) Only the vessel’s agent is entitled to order a Pilot for departure.
(6) Whilst in port, in case of emergencies, vessels should contact Port Control on VHF
Ch 16.
(7) VHF Ch 08 is exclusively to be used by Dry Dock Masters or Mooring Masters of
Oman Drydock Company berths or quays and the Pilots and/or tugs.
(8) VHF Ch 06 is exclusively to be used by Commercial Quay Master or Mooring
Masters of the Commercial Port berths or quays and the Pilots and/or tugs.
