(1) Pilotage is compulsory for all vessels over 200 gt entering or leaving the port<br />

and is available H24.<br />

(2) Pilotage is exempt for vessels in the services <strong>of</strong> the Sultanate <strong>of</strong> Oman.<br />

(3) Pilotage exemption is also available on an ad hoc basis after consultation with<br />

the Hr Mr. Notwithstanding the above, the Hr Mr may insist on the use <strong>of</strong> a Pilot in the<br />

interest <strong>of</strong> port safety.<br />

(4) Pilot boards in the following positions:<br />

(a) Vessels with a draught <strong>of</strong> more than 8·4m: In the vicinity <strong>of</strong> the Fairway Lt buoy<br />

e-mail to pilot@portduqm.com and update on VHF Ch 16, 2h in advance. ETA should<br />

be confi rmed on VHF Ch 14.<br />

(2) <strong>The</strong> 48h notice should contain the following information:<br />

(a) Vessel’s name<br />

(b) Call sign<br />

(c) Flag<br />

(d) IMO No<br />

(e) MMSI No<br />

(f) LOA<br />

(g) Draught on arrival<br />

(h) gt and nt<br />

(i) Displacement<br />

(j) Last port <strong>of</strong> call<br />

(k) Next port <strong>of</strong> call<br />

(l) IMDG - class, UN No, quantities<br />

(m) ETA at Pilot Station<br />

(3) <strong>The</strong> 24h, 12h and 6h notices should contain the following information:<br />

(a) Vessel’s name<br />

(b) Call sign<br />

(c) MMSI No<br />

(d) ETA at Pilot Station<br />

(4) Notice <strong>of</strong> ETD: Vessels should send notice via email to pilot@portduqm.com at<br />

the following times:<br />

(a) 48h, 24h, 12h, 6h and 3h in advance (Oman Drydock facilities)<br />

(b) On arrival, 3h and 2h in advance (Commercial Quay). <strong>The</strong> 2h notice should be<br />

advised on VHF Ch 14.<br />

(5) Only the vessel’s agent is entitled to order a Pilot for departure.<br />

(6) Whilst in port, in case <strong>of</strong> emergencies, vessels should contact Port Control on VHF<br />

Ch 16.<br />

(7) VHF Ch 08 is exclusively to be used by Dry Dock Masters or Mooring Masters <strong>of</strong><br />

Oman Drydock Company berths or quays and the Pilots and/or tugs.<br />

(8) VHF Ch 06 is exclusively to be used by Commercial Quay Master or Mooring<br />

Masters <strong>of</strong> the Commercial Port berths or quays and the Pilots and/or tugs.<br />
