3.6 A/R CDM project activities: Technical aspects
3.6.1 Overview of AR-PDD
This section discusses technical aspects of A/R CDM project activities and key items to be covered
in the CDM-AR-PDD format. First, this section overlooks the structure of the CDM-AR-PDD, followed
by more detailed explanations on Sections of the PDD. The explanations focus on key issues that
are specific to A/R CDM project activities rather than covering every item. PDD Format (CDM-AR-
PDD) and Guidelines for completing CDM-AR-PDD, CDM-AR-NM, version 09 [EB42, Annex 12] can be
downloaded from the CDM web site [http://cdm.unfccc.int/Reference/index.html].
3.6.2 Sections of CDM-AR-PDD
(1) Section A. General description of the proposed A/R CDM project activity
In Section A, project participants are expected to provide overview and general information of their
project activities. The items that are specific to CDM-AR-PDD and not required in the CDM-PDD
template will be explained in the followings.
Section A.7. Assessment of the eligibility of the land
Project participants should demonstrate that each discrete area of land to be included in the
boundary is eligible for an A/R CDM project activity following the requirements of the applied
methodology.
In applying the A/R CDM definition of “forest” to stands with several storeys of trees differing in
height, then the “forest” may comprise trees from different storeys that in combination meet both
the crown cover (or equivalent stocking level) and height thresholds selected by the Host Party and
reported to the Executive Board through its esignated national authority for the CDM [EB 32, para.
44].
