Professor Gilbertson gave me a small packet and I<br />

took it and ran to the class. To-day I had not a<br />

single pice with me. After three hours when I<br />

opened the packet, I found Rs. 30 enclosed in it. I<br />

went to the kind Professor and told him that I<br />

didn't want so much money and wished to return<br />

Rs. 20 to him, but he insisted on my taking the<br />

whole amount. If you come now, you can take<br />

away this twenty off my hands and if you please,<br />

you might, out of it, give a few, as many as you<br />

please, to my mother. I don't send the amount by<br />

post as I wish you to come here. And I keep Rs. 10<br />

with me for the reason that I have to pay two<br />

months* fees. As regards my usual expenses I may<br />

depend on Jwala Parshad.<br />

12th February, 1893. I have come to the hostel. I<br />

will take my morning meals in the hostel and the<br />

evening meals with Jhandumal. <strong>The</strong> latter<br />

gentleman has with very great difficulty permitted<br />

me to take my morning meals at the hostel. I<br />

propose to make my native village Murari- Wala<br />

and not Muraliwala (Murari means God).<br />

18th February, 1893. Jhandumal has got me 2<br />

Kurtas and one pair of trousers. And also I am free<br />
