ravines and climbed the steep mountains like a
child of nature, and glided into the very heart of
things as the birds fly in the air. He was at his best
when he walked in the Himalayan forests with his
eyes half closed, looking askance at the mightiest
potentates of the world.
Even while in America he would run from his
social engagements, as if the stuffy atmosphere of
