Vedas, introduced in certain quarters in India in<br />

the absurd faith of the infallibility of Vedas, and in<br />

the still more absurd effort of proving them to be<br />

the text books on modern science also, and<br />

remarked: ―Every, one has the right to interpret for<br />

himself anything: as he likes. For example, <strong>Rama</strong><br />

takes the wine of Hafiz to mean divine intoxication<br />

and; taking it in this way, <strong>Rama</strong> enjoys the divine<br />

wine of Hafiz in his own way. But he has no right<br />

to give this meaning to the word used. Similarly,<br />

no one has any right to depart from the traditional<br />

meanings of the Vedic Sanskrit." And <strong>Swami</strong> <strong>Rama</strong><br />

considered Sayanacharya to be the sole guide to<br />

the Vedas. He admired the method of the<br />

European scholars. He condemned the indolent<br />

ignorance of the Hindu Pandits. He said to me at<br />

Vashishtha Ashram "<strong>Rama</strong> intends to write a book<br />

on the Vedas giving all the beautiful pieces both<br />

with the traditional meanings and with <strong>Rama</strong>'s<br />

own interpretations." "<strong>The</strong> other day, <strong>Rama</strong> was<br />

sitting on a slab of stone, the skies were overcast<br />

and it was drizzling! <strong>Rama</strong> had just had his bath<br />

and felt that <strong>Rama</strong> was a woman waiting for God<br />

as her very Man, and <strong>Rama</strong> felt the quiver of the<br />

divinest passion tingling in his blood and every<br />

nerve of his rang like a fiddle string. <strong>The</strong> scenes of<br />
