place of Brahma Yajna which was celebrated here<br />

with great eclat. All gods and men had assembled<br />

but the conch shell would not sound, and it was<br />

the sound of the conch shell which was considered<br />

to be the voice of God declaring the Yajna to be a<br />

success. While this ceremonious Yajna was going<br />

on at this place, the true Brahma Yajna was going<br />

on in the heart of a lonely grass-cutter. He was not<br />

of their caste. He was so deeply immersed in God,<br />

that, when by chance, the scythe with which he<br />

was cutting grass struck his own flesh and<br />

wounded it, there came the colourless blood of<br />

grass from his veins and not the red human blood.<br />

With this wound, the man rose in divine madness<br />

and began dancing. And as he danced the trees<br />

and mountains began to dance with him and the<br />

leader of the Yajna came and fell at the feet of this<br />

holy man and, requested him to honor their Yajna<br />

as the conch shell did not sound! And when this<br />

holy man joined the Yajna, the conch shell<br />

sounded, and even the Gods were surprised, "This<br />

is Vedanta" <strong>Swami</strong> <strong>Rama</strong> ended. After relating any<br />

beautiful story of self-realisation, he would say,<br />

"This is Vedanta."<br />

At Muttra, he would take his admirers in crowds<br />
