<strong>The</strong> <strong>Story</strong> <strong>Of</strong> <strong>Swami</strong> <strong>Rama</strong><br />

mind, which is the state of inspiration—ecstasy,<br />

merging into transcendental Trance. It is there<br />

when man is in unison with God, is one with Him,<br />

is God. He who lives in that state of Samadhi<br />

continuously, is, verily, God Himself. <strong>Swami</strong> <strong>Rama</strong><br />

does not speak to us of the invisible powers at<br />

work in this beautiful state; and he having<br />

Samadhi or the religion of Trance as his subject, is<br />

eminently a spiritual mystic who opens himself to<br />

the full light that shines beyond the broken lamp of<br />

mind. He says concentration means elevating one's<br />

self above body and mind. It is the ecstatic state—<br />

the Samadhi—from where all great ideas come,<br />

from where the poet brings down his poetry, the<br />

scientist his startling discoveries of the secrets of<br />

Nature. <strong>The</strong> ecstatic state dawns upon man<br />

sometimes in an extreme crisis of mental or<br />

physical pain. "Live in the ecstatic state and you<br />

need not worry. <strong>The</strong> world will readjust itself<br />

towards you, just as you rise to that state. <strong>The</strong><br />

judge need but occupy his seat, and he will find all<br />

things ready for him." He says repeating this<br />

illustration at another place:<br />

<strong>The</strong> king's very presence on his royal throne<br />

establishes order throughout the Darbar, so doth<br />
