<strong>The</strong> <strong>Story</strong> <strong>Of</strong> <strong>Swami</strong> <strong>Rama</strong><br />

Sin‖. In his lecture yesterday afternoon <strong>Swami</strong> <strong>Rama</strong><br />

said:<br />

―<strong>The</strong> object of this philosophy is to regulate the conduct<br />

of the present life. It has a plain, practical bearing upon<br />

the things of today. You may be disappointed, but there<br />

is nothing mystical, or occult about me, although I come<br />

from the deepest forests of the Himalayas. To minimise<br />

the waste of energy, to abolish wear and tear of body and<br />

mind, to secure freedom from all kinds of dissipation,<br />

due to envy, vanity, distemper and blues; to cure mental<br />

dyspepsia, and to remove intellectual pauperism and<br />

spiritual slavery; to attain the secret of successful work;<br />

to realise God through Love; to keep in touch with the<br />

origin of knowledge, how to preserve our equilibrium<br />

and peace, these are the subjects I teach.<br />

My religion is not Hinduism, Mohammadnism,<br />

Christianity, Catholicism, or Protestantism, but it is<br />

antagonistic to none. <strong>The</strong> overlapping area covered by<br />

the light, the sun, the stars, the rivers, gravity, mind<br />

and body, this is the field of my religion. Are there any<br />

Presbyterian lilies? Are there any Methodist<br />

landscapes? So do I make no distinction of class, colour,<br />

or creed in greeting as my co-religionists the rays of<br />

sun, the beams of stars, the leaves of trees, the blades of<br />

grass, the grains of sand, the hearts of tigers, elephants,<br />
