Dollar Bank is delighted to welcome you to the 37th Cleveland
International Film Festival. It is our privilege to be Presenting
Sponsor of the CIFF this year, after having been Opening Night
sponsor for the past 15 years. The CIFF is a nationally recognized
film festival, and is the best arts event in the region. Your passion
for film has led to the great success of the Festival, and the CIFF
staff and volunteers have worked hard to make sure this year will
be the best ever. We are proud to sponsor this increasingly popular
event and look forward to seeing you for many years to come.
Now sit back, enjoy the Festival, and be generous with your
applause...
Andy Devonshire
President, Dollar Bank Ohio VP Marketing, Dollar Bank
and CIFF Board Member
Our applause goes to Dollar Bank, for we are deeply honored to
have them as our Presenting Sponsor. And we have so much to present
this year! For example, we’ve added a 12th day to the Festival.
And we’ve launched an entirely new website. We’ve included an
evening of screenings at the Apollo Theatre, made possible with the
support of Oberlin College. Plus, thanks to a grant from The John S.
and James L. Knight Foundation, we’re presenting a Festival sampling
of films at our first ever Day and Knight in Akron. Our Focus
on Filmmakers, funded with a very generous grant from The
Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, ® is entering into its
second year by introducing you to ten amazing Latino filmmakers.
As always, we have so much to celebrate at the CIFF. And this year,
we will be celebrating our 37th birthday during the Festival on
Saturday, April 13th. We will also be celebrating the incredible life
of George Gund III (1937–2013). A founding trustee of the CIFF
Board of Directors, George loved a party! So it is only fitting that
this year’s Opening Night be presented in George’s honor. And, as
an enduring tribute to George, one of our long-standing competitions
will now be known as the George Gund III Memorial Central
and Eastern European Film Competition. Both the party and the
program are made possible with generous support from The George
Gund Foundation.
In between films (178 features and 164 short subjects from 65
countries), please stop by our Challenge Match area. The goal for
this year’s campaign is $100,000 and we know that your donations
will, once again, enable us to reach—and even exceed—our goal
so that we can continue to bring you the CIFF.
We can’t wait to see you at the 37th Cleveland International Film
Festival! Please arrive early and often.
