When Russian mobster Viktor is released from prison, he makes<br />
an unexpected visit home to see his family. Unbeknownst to<br />
him, a group of hired assassins are hot on his trail and looking<br />
to knock off this mob lieutenant. DOM—A RUSSIAN FAMILY<br />
is a classic story of vintage lineage blending all the great gangster,<br />
mobster, and western film elements. Viktor’s family is<br />
dysfunctional, myopic, and living in near squalor on their<br />
massive property, so his return is met with a mix of trepidation<br />
and gratitude. Knowledge of Viktor’s gangster lifestyle keeps<br />
everyone on edge. While before the family was preoccupied<br />
by wolves, now there’s a new predator in their midst. As the<br />
henchmen get closer and Viktor’s long lost girlfriend treks to<br />
the family home, Viktor’s many siblings begin revealing the<br />
secrets and resentment that have laced their humble dwelling.<br />
Bravely and terrifyingly acted by Sergey Garmash as Viktor,<br />
DOM—A RUSSIAN FAMILY is thick with tension, ripe with<br />
subtext, and gripping right from beginning to end. Fantastic<br />
scenery and riveting drama set the tone early and keep the<br />
audience fixated on what is considered one of the best Russian<br />

Split into three fantastic stories, DOOMSDAY BOOK is an<br />
absolutely thrilling science-fiction anthology. “Brave New<br />
World” tells the story of nerdy scientist Yoon Seok-woo, who<br />
finally meets the girl of his dreams. Unfortunately, they both<br />
become zombies after eating toxic beef on their first date.<br />
It’s a quirky and endearing apocalyptic love story. The second<br />
chapter, “Heavenly Creature,” centers around Park Do-won,<br />
a corporate technician, who is called to a monastery to determine<br />
if a Buddhist robot has actually achieved enlightenment.<br />
It’s a brilliant story, full of terrific special effects that paint a<br />
picture of a very stylish future. The film closes with “Happy<br />
Birthday,” an adorable end-of-the world tale about a young girl<br />
who accidentally orders the destruction of earth when trying<br />
to buy a billiard ball online. Like the others, it’s filled with<br />
lovable characters and a witty script that pulls you in immediately.<br />
Grim Armageddon scenarios become extremely charming<br />
and fun in the incredibly imaginative DOOMSDAY BOOK.<br />

About the Directors~Kim Jee-woon and Yim Pil-Sung are filmmakers from South<br />
Korea. Kim made his U.S. film debut in 2013, directing the Arnold Schwarzenegger<br />
action vehicle, “The Last Stand.” Yim is most known for writing and directing<br />
