MSMN 336. Ministering to Youth<br />
An exploration <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> methods, materials, skills, and organization needed for providing an effective ministry to youth.<br />
Students also examine and discuss <strong>the</strong> qualifications <strong>of</strong> and spiritual growth resources for <strong>the</strong> minister to youth/students.<br />

MSMN 337. Ministering to Individuals and Families<br />
An examination <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> challenges individuals and families face and how Christian ministers can be agents <strong>of</strong> change. In<br />
this course students are introduced to various practices and procedures for ministering to individuals and families in church<br />
and para-church settings. Students will be taught how to develop models and methods <strong>of</strong> ministering to today’s families based<br />
upon sound <strong>the</strong>ological, educational, and cultural considerations. Credit, 3 hours. Offered spring semester <strong>of</strong> each year.<br />
MSMN 338. Developing Mission Strategies<br />
A discussion <strong>of</strong> current challenges and strategies from both <strong>the</strong>ological and practical perspectives. Students develop a<br />
plan for missions in a specific area or context. Credit, 3 hours. Offered spring semester <strong>of</strong> even years.<br />
MSMN 402. Religion and Film<br />
A study, taught in tandem with COMM 402, examining <strong>the</strong> relationship between American religious culture and American<br />
film culture during <strong>the</strong> twentieth century. Specific attention is focused on: 1) <strong>the</strong> ways in which America’s religious thought<br />
and traditions have influenced <strong>the</strong> form and function <strong>of</strong> film and 2) <strong>the</strong> ways in which America’s film culture has reflected and/<br />
or challenged our dominant religious beliefs and values. This integrated Studies course can fulfill a requirement in Section<br />
I <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> General Education Curriculum. Credit, 3 hours. Offered each year.<br />
MSMN 403. Exploring <strong>the</strong> Non-Canonical Works<br />
An exploration <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> books that were not included in <strong>the</strong> Old Testament or <strong>the</strong> New Testament. This integrated Studies<br />
course can fulfill a requirement in Section I <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> General Education Curriculum. Credit, 3 hours. Offered each year.<br />
MSMN 404. Examining Contemporary Christian Music<br />
This course, taught in tandem with COMM 404, <strong>of</strong>fers an interdisciplinary examination <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> roots, development,<br />
<strong>the</strong>ology, and direction <strong>of</strong> Contemporary Christian music. This Integrated Studies course can fulfill a requirement in Section<br />
I <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> General Education Curriculum. Credit, 3 hours. Offered each year.<br />
MSMN 410. Transitioning to Christian Ministry<br />
An integration <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> courses <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> missions and ministry majors into a personal, coherent philosophy <strong>of</strong> Christian faith<br />
and ministry. The exit exams required <strong>of</strong> all missions and ministry majors are an integral part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> course. Prerequisites:<br />
MSMN 135, MSMN 136, MSMN 234, MSMN 236, and senior standing or permission <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essor. Credit, 1 hour. Offered<br />
each spring semester.<br />
MSMN 432. Sharing <strong>the</strong> Gospel<br />
A study <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong>ology <strong>of</strong>, <strong>the</strong> need for, and <strong>the</strong> methods for accomplishing <strong>the</strong> work <strong>of</strong> Christian evangelism. Credit, 3<br />
hours. Offered fall semester <strong>of</strong> odd years.<br />
MSMN 436. Developing Disciples<br />
A study focusing on helping Christians understand <strong>the</strong> nature <strong>of</strong> Christian discipleship as following Christ in obedience.<br />
The course explores biblical foundations <strong>of</strong> Christian discipleship, <strong>the</strong> distinguishing marks <strong>of</strong> a Christian disciple, personal<br />
approaches to disciple-making, models <strong>of</strong> discipleship, and how disciples experience God in <strong>the</strong>ir personal life. Credit: 3<br />
hours. Offered fall semester <strong>of</strong> even years.<br />
MSMN 437. Planting a High Impact Church<br />
A study <strong>of</strong> church planting from <strong>the</strong> practitioner’s point <strong>of</strong> view. Particular attention will be given to leadership style and<br />
skills, recruitment and training <strong>of</strong> leaders, and <strong>the</strong> integration <strong>of</strong> church growth principles with <strong>the</strong> practice <strong>of</strong> church planting.<br />
Focus will be given to methods which have proven most effective in reaching various age group and cultural demographics.<br />
Students will develop a step by step plan for <strong>the</strong> actual launch <strong>of</strong> a church in a given locale. Prerequisite: MSMN 137. Credit,<br />
3 hours. Offered fall semester <strong>of</strong> odd years.<br />
MSMN 490. Researching in Religion<br />
A directed supervision experience for individuals engaged in a specific research project in <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> missions, ministry,<br />
or religious studies. The course may be repeated up to a maximum <strong>of</strong> six hours <strong>of</strong> credit. Prerequisites: MSMN 135 and<br />
MSMN 136. Credit, 1 to 6 hours. Offered as needed.<br />
