ITEM WITH RESERVE
358. Jackie
Robinson Signed
Baseball With Full
JSA
Undaunted in a bold endeavor
to break Major League
Baseball’s unwritten color barrier,
Jackie Robinson was more
or less “selected” as an athlete
who had the abilities and the
temperament to meet the challenge
head-on. The combination
of skills, class and dignity
was a winning one, making
Robinson one of the most
respected players the game has ever seen and, as a result, a cornerstone autograph to
any serious collection. This ONL Giles sphere is signed by Robinson. The creamy
orb (grade “6”) dates to Robinson’s post-career days (the earliest possible signing
date being 1958). On a side panel, Robinson’s blue-ink steel tip fountain pen scripting
projects (“7”) strength and clarity. While this presents as a single-signed ball,
there is evidence of signature removals. Full photo LOA from JSA. This item has a
reserve (estimated value $2000-$3000)
Opening Bid $900.00
Brooklyn Dodgers autographed
this ONL Frick
baseball. The creamy sphere (grade “7-8”) features black-ink fountain pen signatures
that average (“6-7”) quality with keys including: Barney, Branca, Furillo, Hodges,
Lavagetto, Reese, J. Robinson and Vaughan. The ball contains no clubhouse signatures,
is from the personal collection of former Dodger Clyde King and comes with a
Opening Bid $400.00
ITEM WITH RESERVE
360. 1967 World Champion St. Louis Cardinals Team-
Signed Ball With Maris - PSA/DNA 7
As the once-dominant Yankees fell on hard times, the St. Louis Cardinals armed themselves
with an integral component of those since-depleted Bronx rosters and won it all
in 1967. This ONL Giles ball is autographed by (22) of those champion Redbirds.
Graded 7 by PSA/DNA (Autographs Grade 7; Baseball Grade 7), the creamy sphere
is signed by: Sweet Spot Cepeda and Schoendienst (manager); North Panel Maris,
Charles
Gehringer
Single-
Signed
Baseballs
with Initialed
Hall of Fame
Date
Inscriptions
Charles (The
Mechanical Man)
Gehringer was a
master at both his
position (second base) and the plate, thus earning a well deserved induction into the
hallowed halls of Cooperstown. Presented are a dozen Gehringer single-signed OAL
balls, each inscribed with his Hall of Fame induction date. The bold blue ink endorsements
generally average (“8-9”) with mild ink migration affecting only 33% of the
spheres. Included are (10) Charles L. Gehringer H.O.F June 13 1949, (1) Charles
Gehringer H.O.F June 1949 and (1)Charles Gehringer H.O.F June 13 1949). Despite
varying degrees of toning, the scripts still present nicely and are nearly impossible to
find in any condition. Auction LOA from JSA.
Opening Bid $900.00
361. Mickey Mantle & Roger Maris Dual-Signed OAL
Cronin Ball with Full JSA
The “M & M Boys” are the sole inscribers of this circa 1959-79 OAL Cronin baseball.
Mantle penned the sweet spot (“6”) via black ballpoint while Maris (d.1985) added his
weighty endorsement (“6”) to the north panel. The creamy sphere displays faint trademark
stampings and an inscription “To My Good Buddy Raymond” was inked on the
south panel in an unknown hand. Demand definitely exceeds supply for dual-signed
Mantle/Maris material. Full photo LOA from JSA. This item has a reserve. Estimated
value ($1000-$1500).
Opening Bid $400.00
363. (40) Single-
Famer Baseballs
With Durocher and
Hunter - All JSA
Avid fans and collectors can
take two approaches to this lot
of (40) single-signed baseballs.
tremendous “break” value,
ready-made Hall of Fame display
and worthwhile conversation
piece. The OAL and ONL
orbs range from clean white
(grade “9”) to medium-toned
(grade “5-6”) examples and
