BASEBALL December 13, 2012 482. 1930 Joe Stripp Game- Used Bat With Durocher Sidewriting Notation - PSA/DNA GU- 7.5 Ever the competitor, Hall of Famer Leo Durocher sought every edge during his playing days. This 1930 game-used and side-written bat provides ample evidence of that. Graded GU 7.5 by PSA/DNA, this Hanna Batrite (33.3-oz/35-1/2”) Joe Stripp block-letter bat shows heavy use with ball and cleat marks, as well as a 3-1/2” piece missing from the knob. In vintage grease pencil, “34oz Leo Durocher 6-25-30 Cin Nat” appears on the barrel, indicating a request for duplicate models. Not surprisingly, Stripp hit .306 in 1930 and this bat was obviously to Durocher’s liking. The ash lumber has a steel temper finish and decidedly pronounced center brand and barrel stamping identifiers. The rarity of Hanna Batrite gamers, coupled with the Durocher side written notation, make this a headliner to any serious bat collection. Full photo LOA from PSA/DNA. Opening Bid $250.00 483. Jorge Posada 2004 Signed Game-Used Bat - PSA/DNA GU-7.5 In his 10th big league season, Bronx backstop Jorge Posada signed and wielded this Louisville Slugger (32.9-oz/34-1/2”) “P320” signature model weapon as the 2004 club won its seventh straight A.L. East crown. The ash lumber features a black “Smith” finish and showcases Posada’s fiber tip autograph, which shows (“8”) strength near the barrel stampings. Miguel Cabrera 2007 Signed Game-Used Bat 2012 Triple Crown winner, Miguel Cabrera wielded and signed this Marucci “MC24” (33.2-oz/34”) block-letter model weapon during his final campaign (2007) in Florida. The two-toned war club features a black handle and brown barrel that showcases Cabrera’s silver marker autograph (“9” strength) and inscriptions of “24 – Game Used.” Uncracked, the item shows nice use with ball and deeply embedded stitch marks about the barrel, as well as transposed OML ball stampings. Early-1960s Los Angeles Angels Game-Worn Trio With Cap, Jacket and Warm-Up Jersey The third big league team to make its home in California, the Los Angeles Angels have endured numerous identity changes. The club’s early-1960s origins are evident on these game-worn artifacts. Includes: Cap a blue wool accessory with a silver “halo” embroidered atop the crown; Warm-Up Jersey a blue pullover garment with “LA” sewn to the left breast in red-on-white twill and “Wilson” size “40” tagging sewn within the collar; Jacket a blue satin-like button-down garment with “ANGELS” arched atop the back in redon-white twill. Opening Bid $400.00 489. 1953 Columbus Red Birds Game-Worn Road Ensemble In terms of minor league teams and their status as affiliates to parent clubs, it began with the Columbus Red Birds, a club purchased by Cardinals executive Branch Rickey in 1931. Near the end of that team’s run as a Class AAA American Association affiliate of the Cards, this road ensemble was worn during the 1953 season by a big league hopeful. The gray flannel jersey and pants feature red trim, with felt identifiers on the jersey and proper “Rawlings” tagging on both. Ray Lamanno 1945-1948 Cincinnati Reds Signed Game-Worn Jacket Keeping with their proud tradition of dependable catchers, the Cincinnati Reds unveiled Ray Lamanno in 1941. Following a stint in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Lamanno earned All-Star recognition in 1946. Along the w a y, he wore and signed this warm-up jacket. The thick blue canvas button-down garment features cream-colored leather sleeves and a “C-REDS” logo sewn to the back in red and white pile. Tailored between 1956 and 1966 during the club’s final years at Sportsman’s Park, this red canvas zippered garment features a team logo embroidered to the left breast, “38” sewn to the left sleeve in blue felt and blue stretch ribbed cotton lining the collar, waistline and sleeve endings. This jacket was worn by a Twins player during the club’s first five seasons (1961-1965) in the twin Cities. The blue satin-like button-down garment features “Minnesota” sewn across the chest in red-onwhite twill with “TWINS” and two stars embroidered to the lengthy paraph. This 1968 game-worn BoSox jacket features the qualities for which the tradition was kept. The blue satin-like button-down garment features a team logo sewn to the left breast in red pile. Vintage Houston Astros Game- Worn Warm-Up Jacket Space-themed logos, artificial turf and indoor baseball were among the novelties introduced by the Houston Astros. As loud and colorful as those concepts once seemed, this jacket was worn by an Astros player likely during the late-1970s. The blue nylon button-down garment features a team logo embroidered to a 7-1/2”-diameter twill plate on the left breast and a smaller version on the left sleeve. Within the collar, a “Wilson” size “44” label has a notation of “44.” While the logos date to 1965-1974, this style of “Wilson” tagging began in 1978, suggesting a late-1970s issue. Green stretch ribbed cotton lines the collar, waistline and sleeve endings, while the collar’s interior is home to a “Starter” and size “XL” label. Minimal wear is evident.
