game, the University of Kansas hosted rival Missouri in
Lawrence, Kansas on November 23, 1912 for the 22nd
installment of the famed “Border War.” Capturing key
moments of a 12-3 Jayhawks’ triumph that day, these
(8) “Real Photo” postcards showcase sepia-toned likenesses
of grid warriors clad in archaic equipment. One
depicts a bullhorn with a multiple mouthpiece attachment.
(One is dated 1910 and another is not dated.)

reduced to an all-time
low eight teams as the
Providence Steam
Rollers, Cleveland Indians and Frankford Yellow
Jackets all disbanded. That didn’t stop Chicago-based
Spalding Sporting Goods from promoting the upcoming
season with examples of this vintage schedule. Printed
on a thick stock two-sided keepsake, the 5-1/8 x 5-1/8”
schedule keeps it “local,” listing the season schedules
of the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cardinals and Green
Bay Packers. This scarce example is crease free and has
never been folded.

sepia-toned photos have proper news service stampings

Advisory Staff Retail Displays
As spokespersons for the 1948 Wilson Sporting Goods
Advisory Staff, revered signal callers Johnny Lujack
and Charley Trippi are the subjects on these colorful
point of sale displays. Each thick cardboard display
stands approximately 17-3/4”-tall and has an easel
backing. Both display beautifully, though Lujack’s left
hand is missing and there are creases and minor paper
loss near Trippi’s left hand. The colors remain vibrant.

of binoculars
with original leather case. The case features Colts
decals on the front and back including ‘58-‘59 and
World Champs highlight blurbs on a football and crown
respectively. Another featured item is a 7x5 gilt edged
ceramic plate in better grade which is decorated with an
image of The Sun newspaper from 12/1/58. Also
included is an “Official Colts Tie by Resisto” which
features handsome Colts embroidery and a grooming
