Shortly before leading the Boston
Celtics to unprecedented success,
Arnold Jacob “Red” Auerbach was
an up-and-coming coach for the
Washington Capitols of the BAA.
Released only in the Washington
D.C. area, the offered 1948-50
Safe-T-Card Red Auerbach is not
only the rookie of the Hall of
Famer, but it is the only such example
judged by SGC. The creamy
surface with purplish type is creasefree
with accurate centering and
only the slightest hint of wear along
the perimeter. The Jim Gibbons
Cartoon-A-Quiz advertising back is
bright and clean.

Despite moderate peripheral wear due to prolonged storage, the inner cards have
