1860s Signed U.S. Army Envelope<br />

This correspondence piece hails from a pivotal chapter<br />

in American history and is endorsed by revered Civil<br />

War General William T. Sherman. The envelope has<br />

“Headquarters Army of the United States – Official<br />

Business” printed in the upper right corner and is<br />

signed by Sherman in black-ink fountain pen (“8”<br />

strength) and addressed (in Sherman’s hand) to a<br />

Boston resident. Issued by Philp & Solomons (which<br />

had government contracts from printing beginning in<br />

Presented is an autographed 11 x 8-1/2” souvenir sheet<br />

(matted to 12-1/2 x 10-1/4”) featuring Charles M.<br />

Schulz’s (d.2000) beloved creations: “Charlie Brown<br />

and the Peanuts Gang”. Presented in very well preserved<br />

condition, this sketch type sheet displays the<br />

central “Peanuts” characters in what could be considered<br />

a sort of “team photo” setting. Schulz’s (“7-8”)<br />

quality signature, which is almost as broad as the<br />

appeal of his comic strip, appears across the top of the<br />

sheet along with the inscription “Best wishes”. Full<br />

This 1883 correspondence is penned entirely in<br />

Beauregard’s hand and signed at the conclusion.<br />

Composed in black ink on a sheet of lined paper with a<br />

vintage watermark, the letter is dated “Nov. 8/83”. At<br />

the conclusion, Beauregard’s scripting projects (“9”)<br />

quality with very minor ink migration preventing even<br />

At a gathering of the elite in the social and artistic circles,<br />

internationally acclaimed performers endorsed this<br />

“Gallery First Nighters’ Club” 34 Annual Dinner program.<br />

Issued on March 7, 1937 at London’s Criterion<br />

Restaurant, the two-page thick stock item features caricature<br />

likenesses on the front cover, while the inside is<br />

home to menu and guest listings. Executed in graphite<br />

pencil, the signatures of Leslie Banks, Constance<br />

Cummings, Vivien Leigh and Laurence Olivier all project<br />

(“8-9”) strength. Ann Harding has signed in blue<br />

Space Shuttle Discovery’s second mission “STS 51-A”<br />

is noted as the first retrieval mission in space exploration<br />

history. Using a device known as the “Stinger”<br />

Discovery retrieved two improperly orbiting satellites<br />

after successfully launching two Canadian satellites.<br />

Presented is a 16x20 display board titled<br />

“Discovery…Going to Work in Space” which features<br />

the crew members’ signatures, a mission patch, photos<br />

and a caption. Displaying an average (“7”) strength the<br />

(5) signatures are Commander Hauck, Pilot Walker, and<br />

Mission Specialists Fisher, Gardner and Allen. Full<br />

While his lesser-known activities included writing, publishing<br />

and politics, famed circus founder Phineas T.<br />

Barnum set the record straight, proclaiming: “I am a<br />

showman by trade, and all the gilding shall make nothing<br />

else of me.” This personal check was signed by<br />

Barnum during his tenure in the Connecticut legislature.<br />

The document is dated “Nov 9 1865” and signed<br />

on the appropriate line in black-ink fountain pen (“7”<br />

strength). The postmarked item has minor separation<br />

near the middle, which does not affect Barnum’s autograph.<br />

Who’s on first You if you win these (2) photos single<br />

signed by the immortal comedy team Abbott and<br />

Costello. Bud Abbott (d.1974) and Lou Costello<br />

(d.1959) are duly and dually famous in the entertainment<br />

and baseball worlds for their great comedic work,<br />

especially the classic “who’s on first” routine featured<br />

at the Hall of Fame since 1956. The offered photos<br />

measure 8x10 and bear personalized inscriptions.<br />

Abbott’s (“8”) signature appears on a Universal<br />

Pictures publicity shot and Costello’s (“9”) signature<br />
