C OUNCIL I NFORMATION<br />

Audit Committee<br />

The Audit Committee is formally appointed by the Council and<br />

assists Council and the Town’s administration to assure itself<br />

that within the organisation there are appropriate and effective<br />

accounting, auditing, internal control, business risk management,<br />

compliance and reporting systems, processes and practices.<br />

Freedom <strong>of</strong> Information Act<br />

The Town <strong>of</strong> <strong>Vincent</strong> has been subject to the provisions <strong>of</strong><br />

the Freedom <strong>of</strong> Information Act since its creation in 1994. The<br />

Freedom <strong>of</strong> Information Act gives individuals and organisations<br />

a general right <strong>of</strong> access to information held by the Town. It also<br />

provides the right <strong>of</strong> appeal in relation to decisions made by the<br />

Town to refuse access to information applied for under the<br />

Freedom <strong>of</strong> Information Act.<br />

The Town <strong>of</strong> <strong>Vincent</strong> supports, and is committed to, the<br />

goals. That means we are continually aiming to ensure that<br />

Register <strong>of</strong> Financial Interests for Elected<br />

Members and Senior Staff<br />

The requirements <strong>of</strong> the Local Government Act 1995 in reporting<br />

the financial interests <strong>of</strong> Elected Members and Senior Staff were<br />

complied with.<br />

This register was implemented on 1 July 1997 in accordance<br />

with the requirements <strong>of</strong> the Local Government Act 1995. It is<br />

held in the Chief Executive’s <strong>of</strong>fice and is available for viewing<br />

by the public.<br />

Code <strong>of</strong> Conduct<br />

The Council’s Code <strong>of</strong> Conduct prescribes the standard <strong>of</strong><br />

conduct and behaviour expected <strong>of</strong> the Elected Members and all<br />

Employees. The Code is required to be reviewed within twelve<br />

months after each Ordinary Election.<br />

The Council Code which was originally adopted at the Ordinary<br />

Meeting <strong>of</strong> Council <strong>of</strong> 26 August 1996 was reviewed and reendorsed<br />

by Council at its meetings <strong>of</strong> 14 July 1997, 23 August<br />

1999, 28 August 2001 and 24 February <strong>2004</strong>. The latest Code<br />

was substantially amended and re-adopted.<br />

Policies, practices and services are adapted to meet the needs <strong>of</strong><br />

a diverse and evolving community and we review and update all<br />

relevant policies annually to ensure they align with legislative<br />

requirements and the needs <strong>of</strong> the workforce.<br />

These policies are:<br />

• Equal Employment Opportunity Policy<br />

• Workplace Bullying Policy<br />

• Sexual Harassment Policy<br />

• Internet Use and Email Policy.<br />
