The vast majority <strong>of</strong> residents who initially identify as <strong>Jewish</strong> have two parents who are or were<br />

<strong>Jewish</strong> (73 percent); only 16 percent come from interfaith families. In contrast, residents who do<br />

not initially identify as <strong>Jewish</strong> are significantly more likely to have only one or no <strong>Jewish</strong> parents.<br />

A third <strong>of</strong> <strong>Jewish</strong> residents who say <strong>the</strong>y have no religion or are a<strong>the</strong>ist only have one <strong>Jewish</strong><br />

parent (48 percent have two <strong>Jewish</strong> parents); a plurality <strong>of</strong> Jews who initially identify as<br />

Christian have one <strong>Jewish</strong> parents (47 percent) while only 11 percent have two <strong>Jewish</strong> parents.<br />
